The chemistry classes learned the safe way to play with fire last week in a methane lab.
Students in Shaen McKnight’s honors chemistry class participated in a methane bubble flame experiment that entailed big flames and big smiles. Each student dipped their hand in methane bubbles as McKnight safely ignited the bubbles. The lab demonstrated that methane gas is lighter than air.
