Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive, and Dodge

You may have noticed a particular sign, complete with glitter and rippable pages to remind you about this year’s Dodgeball Tournament. Reign Parker ‘14 and I have been planning this event since early August, and we can’t wait to see how successful it will be.

In the past, the Dodgeball Tournament has always been a fun way to earn community service hours, have fun with friends, and raise funds for a select charity. This year, Parker and I have decided to donate all of the money made from selling t-shirts and making teams to a foundation called Fedice. Fedice is an organization based in Quito, Ecuador, that seeks to promote social, human, and economic development through projects designed for impoverished citizens.

“This year, Fedice is trying to build a kindergarten building for young children so that they can begin their education as early as possible,” Hannah Kelly ‘14 said.

Kelly has worked with Fedice before and attended the service trip to Ecuador that was planned by Mr. Arnold and Mrs. Robinson, US history and Spanish teachers, respectively.

Hannah, as well as Reign and I, can’t wait to see all of you guys play in the Round and Square gyms on September 21.

Look for sign-up sheets during announcements and lunch to get a team signed up and get a t-shirt. There is room for eight people on each team, so get a group of friends together and grab a sign up sheet. They will be due September 18.

The tournament will start at around 1 p.m. and prizes have yet to be announced, but watch out for announcements and updates on the event.

Last year, the winners, received some hardware for their dominating performance.
