The future of NFL running backs is here: Saquon Barkley.

After watching the combine, Zack Hasenzahl ’20 liked what he saw from the Penn State graduate.

“He’s incredibly talented and I think he’s going to be a serious threat to all defenses in the league,” Hasenzahl said.

At 6′ 0″ and 233 pounds, Saquon Barkley, a Penn State graduate, put on a show this weekend at the NFL Combine. On and off the field, Barkley is an absolute beast, stopping at nothing on his path for greatness. Barkley was a 4-Star recruit from Pennsylvania, and set many school records at Penn State Barkley is a powerful runner, yet has finesse, with an incredibly high ceiling in terms of potential. As well as running, he runs his passing routes very well. Barkley is projected to be a high 1st Round draft pick.

Barkley had one of the best combines in recent history. He ran a 4.4o second 40-Yard Dash, benched 29 reps at 225 pounds, had a 41.0 inch vertical jump, and a 4.24 second 20 yard shuttle.

Ben Parker ’18 sees the potential in this possible future star.

“I am definitely going to draft him in fantasy, he looks like he’s going to be an animal,” Parker said.

Overall, Barkley is an impressive athlete with a very bright future. His vision running the ball, elusiveness, and speed make him the ideal running back. He proved he was able to handle a heavy work load at Penn State, and will likely do the same in the NFL. No matter what team he gets drafted to, he will be a huge advantage to the lucky team that decides to draft him.
