Teacher Feature Series: Kathy Roemer
September 24, 2014
Kathy Roemer is the new upper school counselor.
She was born in Fort Worth and lived most of her life in Crowley, Texas, and even lived in Japan teaching English.
One may wonder why she’s a counselor at Fort Worth Country Day.
Because the death of her good friend in eighth grade showed her how much she wanted to make sure teens got all the help they could get.
Because she attended Our Lady of the Lake University and Aurora University.
Coming from Monnig Middle School and Dunbar High, she had always heard about how great of a school Country Day was.
Because Roemer said, “I want every high school student to know they can come to me for anything.”
The thing that attracted her most was the Link Crew program. She really appreciates the fact that the upperclassmen at our school take the opportunity to help freshmen get through their first year of high school.
Roemer has children at Trinity Valley, one in eighth grade and another in fourth. She did not want to work at the same school that her children attended, so TVS was not much of an option for her.
Because after only three weeks of working at Country Day, she can already say that she loves it here.
Her clean office smells new but feels cozy when you’re sitting inside. On the wall there’s a huge puzzle that spells out integrity. The freshman class and Link Crew leaders made the puzzle during freshman orientation.
It is so easy to talk to Roemer, and it’s different than talking to a teacher.
