Is the famous dress black/blue or white/gold?
The Internet has been blowing up debating the color of this dress. Everyone is convinced he or she is right. It all started when a woman posted a picture on Tumblr of the mother of the bride’s dress at her friends wedding. This dress is originally blue and black, but this doesn’t mean those seeing white and gold are wrong.
“Color is our perception — our interpretation of the light that’s in the world,” says Arthur Shapiro, a professor at American university that specializes in visual perception in USA Today article.
The colors of this dress are changing because the lighting in the background. Different people focus their eyes on the dress in different colors because of the way their eyes focus. There are many articles on the internet that are false and telling people that if they see blue and black it means they are depressed. Don’t worry, you’re not depressed you just seeing the true colors of the dress says Author Shapiro.
“I’ve seen periwinkle blue and gold since day one and it’s never changed colors for me” says Adelaide Kelly ‘18. Others including Michael Anderson’18 disagreed, “I saw blue and black and I don’t understand how anyone sees white and gold” Anderson said.
