Recently the librarians have been working on updating the library and its appearance. Originally the patio had no furniture and the back door was used as an emergency door in the library.

The idea for the outdoor patio was sparked during ISAS. The acoustic coffee house was outside of the library and students were using the patio. The librarians were looking for ways to fit students’ study space desires and starting looking at buying furniture last summer.

Fred Stewart, who works in plant ops, made sure the railing looked up to date. The patio is a quiet space with new furniture for students to study and read on.

“Right now it is really hot but once it cools off we are hoping more students will study on the patio,” Technology Librarian Teresa Crafton said.
