A Day in the Life of a Beyoncé fan: An Interview with Branson Nelson
Branson Nelson ’16 is a true Beyoncé super fan. He knows all the music, the lingo, and the lifestyle of Beyoncé. Take a look at the interview here.
AD: How do you start your day?
BN: I wake up every morning to Queen B’s hit “Run The World (Girls)” to remind myself that I need to run the world today, just like Queen B., then I put on my WWQBD (What would Queen B do?) bracelet that I look to for guidance throughout the day.
AD: Do you consider yourself a diva like Beyoncé?
BN: Yeah, my alter ego is Sasha Fierce.
AD: What is your favorite Beyoncé song?
BN: “Pretty Hurts” because it’s relatable to my life. I also like “If I Were a Boy” because it makes me get in touch with my feminine side.
AD: What is the most inspiring thing Beyoncé has taught you?
BN: Beyoncé once said, “I mean I feel like you get more bees with honey, but that doesn’t mean I don’t get frustrated in life.” Enough said.
AD: How do you end your day?
BN: That’s a no brainer. I take a shower while listening to “Crazy In Love” and then I go to sleep listening to “Sweet Dreams.” Queen B is there for me at any hour of the day.
AD: What are your thoughts on her new, unexpected album release?
BN: No one does it like Queen B. The new album is absolute perfection. My favorite part is when her daughter, my spirit animal, Blue Ivy, sings.
Late Tuesday, December 10, Beyoncé dropped her new self-titled album exclusively on iTunes… with no warning whatsoever. That’s right. Queen B wrote, produced, and directed a brand new album with 14 singles and 13 music videos by herself, without telling anyone. Of course, she collaborated with other artists such as her husband Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, and Drake, but the guest star of the album was not one of these three rap superstars. It was her almost two-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, that stole the show. Blue Ivy is featured in a few of the music videos and has a voice recording in one song. The 27-song and music video album is brilliant Beyoncé. The songs are empowering, beautiful, and catchy. If you aren’t a Beyoncé fan, you will be after one listen of the album. On December 20 the songs and music videos became available for individual purchase on iTunes. Get your copy today.
