Brace Yourself, the Polar Vortex is Coming

It got really cold early in January. Beginning New Year’s Eve, it was record lows all over the Northeast and Midwest to the point where Florida was colder than Alaska and Russia, for once, had nothing on us. Niagara Falls particularly froze over while ice, wind, and snow hit everywhere and leaving coastal Maine with whole towns powerless for over a week. And in Texas temperatures dropped into the teens and it was generally no fun to be outside in those winds.

Where is the global warming? Right here apparently. Scientists have said that it’s because of the ice caps melting. All the warm air is in the arctic, pushing cool air down on us. There’s also talk of another burst of cold for the Midwest and Northeast out of Canada, which buried them this week in most snow and brought us in Texas back near freezing temperatures.

But on the bright side Disney’s Frozen made a killing with a domestic total of $337,450,104 as of January 21, a soundtrack in the top 10 on iTunes, and one of the top ten animated films.
