Dr. Heather Peace is a new sophomore and junior math teacher. Peace is originally from Corpus Christi and previously taught at Weatherford College since 2008. She came to Country Day because she heard many great things about the school and wanted to teach different age groups. Peace believes that teaching here will be very helpful to students because of her experience in college. She has a BS in math from Baylor University, a MS in math from Western Kentucky University, and a PhD from TCU. Peace’s goals for this year are to re-teach herself the Java Software, computer software used to view 3D objects. Her other goal is to work more with the Botanical Research Institute.

Its fun to watch people discover things, especially math when its so complicated and it finally clicks.

— Heather Peace

Peace at first did not want to teach because she does not like public speaking, she was required to teach a class as part of her master’s program, she discovered she loved teaching. Peace enjoys playing chess in her free time, solving puzzles with her husband, playing the ukulele, and running. She has had many articles published for several organizations including “School Science and Mathematics” and “The Association for Science Teacher Educators.”
