BCS Bowl Predictions: Week 15

BCS National Championship

Auburn Tigers vs. Florida State Seminoles

Can the SEC win an eighth straight BCS National Championship? Will an SEC team even make it to Pasadena? I think the the BCS System will rightfully place Auburn in the National Championship after winning the SEC Title. Their opponent, however, will be a tough one to work their Tiger miracle magic against. The Florida State Seminoles are shaping to be one of the best college football teams we’ve seen in a decade. They will put an end to the SEC’s reign of seven straight national championships  and extinguish the fire-like momentum of Auburn.

Final Score: Florida State 35 Auburn 21

Rose Bowl

Arizona State Sun Devils vs. Ohio State Buckeyes

Well, Ohio State will get what it hoped for in a plane ticket to Pasadena, but it won’t exactly be for the game they wished. The Pac 12 championship game has been set as Arizona State won the South Division and Stanford won the North division. Many people will be shocked to hear this, but if ASU takes care of business against Arizona this weekend, they will host the title game in Tempe because they have one conference loss to Stanford’s two. Shockingly, I’m picking the upset in that game and going with the Sun Devils. They put up 62 points on the team Stanford lost to just two week ago in Southern Cal. Stanford could only muster 17 against the Trojans. At home, the Sun Devils will best the Cardinal in a game of offense. The winner of the Pac 12 earns a spot in the Rose Bowl, per tradition.  As for the Rose Bowl game,  these two high octane offenses will score some points. But which offense run out of gas first? I think Ohio State’s.

Fiesta Bowl

Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. Northern Illinois Huskies

This’ll be a fun one down in the desert. Northern Illinois has quietly won A LOT of games in the past few years and is the new TCU of BCS busters. They’ll get the Big XII champion, Oklahoma State. These are two teams that haven’t ever played each other and will get to square off in Glendale. Jordan Lynch, quarterback for the Huskies, is arguably the best player in the country as he has 2,457 passing yard and 22 passing touchdowns to go along with 1,755 yards rushing and 20 rushing touchdowns. Oklahoma State is not a team to be taken lightly, as they pantsed then undefeated number four Baylor on national television 49-17. However, I think Jordan Lynch will be too much, as the Huskies bust  the BCS, shock the nation, and pound their way to a Fiesta Bowl win.

Northern Illinois Huskies 38 Oklahoma State Cowboys 31

 Sugar Bowl

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. University of Central Florida Knights

The Tide will most likely roll in this one. It’s a Nick Saban team that is MAD after being a miracle away from appearing in their third straight National Championship game. As consolation, they get to avoid the freakishly good  Seminoles from Tallahassee. Central Florida is a great story, but all great things have to eventually come to an end. Don’t worry Knights. On the bright side, Bourbon Street has been curing broken hearts and lightening moods since President Jefferson bought Louisiana in 1803.

Alabama 35 UCF Knights 14

 Orange Bowl

Michigan State Spartans vs. Baylor University Bears

These are two teams that do not have a lot of history against each other. These two teams could not be more different. Let’s look at Baylor. Lots of points. Lots of offense. The Bears like to spread it out and create mismatches deep. Bryce Petty has shredded opposing defenses all year. In the other corner, we have Michigan State. They are your grandfather’s stereotypical Big 10 behemoth. They love to run the play to set up the play-action pass, as everything they do is predicated in winning the battle in the trenches. Their defense is tops in the country and looking historic. The defense only gave up a little over 10 points a game. 10. That’s insane and incredible that they can keep up such a gaudy number through 12 games.  Michigan State’s defense will overwhelm Baylor the way Oklahoma State’s did in Stillwater, as the Spartans mug the Bears
