Mid-American Conference Championship Game

Bowling Green Falcons  vs. Northern Illinois Huskies

Bowling Green has the unfortunate task of facing the undefeated Huskies and one-man wrecking crew Jordan Lynch in the MAC title game. Lynch, quarterback for the Huskies, is arguably the best player in the country as he has 2,457 passing yards and 22 passing touchdowns to go along with 1,755 yards rushing and 20 rushing touchdowns. Good luck, Bowling Green.

Southeastern Conference Championship Game

Missouri Tigers vs. Auburn Tigers

Well, this was not the expected matchup for the nation’s premier conference championship game. Auburn shocked the country with their repeated miracle down in the Plains, as they are finding the craziest ways to win, whether it’s a 73 yard touchdown pass with 30 seconds left or a 108 yard field goal return with one second left. They seem to be the team of destiny this year. Missouri started the year unranked, just hoping to finish 3rd in the SEC East Division, while Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina were all vying for the conference championship game berth. However, Missouri came out looking to avenge last year’s disappointment of a season and they did in a big way. They beat Georgia Between the Hedges and Florida in the Swamp. Missouri’s speedy spread offensive attack, when paired with their tenacious pass rush is a lethal combination. However, Auburn has too much momentum and fourth quarter magic up their sleeves.

Pacific 12 Conference Championship Game

Arizona State Sun Devils vs. Stanford Cardinal

Many people will be shocked to hear this, but since ASU took care of business against Arizona this past weekend, they will host the title game in Tempe because they have one conference loss to Stanford’s two.  We’re picking the upset in this game and going with the Sun Devils. They put up 62 points on the team Stanford lost to just two week ago in Southern Cal. Stanford could only muster 17 against the Trojans. At home, the Sun Devils will best the Cardinal in a game of offense. This game will be back and forth, see-saw style on the arm of Taylor Kelly and the legs of Tyler Gaffney. Stanford will run out of gas first. The winner of the Pac 12 earns a spot in the Rose Bowl, per tradition.

Atlantic Coast Conference Championship Game

Duke Blue Devils vs. Florida State Seminoles

Duke is the feel-good story in college football this year. Typically a basketball school, Duke came into the year with low expectations. Then, they reeled off eight wins in a row against Troy, Navy, UVA, Virginia Tech, NC State, Miami, Wake Forest, and UNC. These Devils are not to be taken lightly, BUT, Florida State is number one for a reason as they have playmakers at wide receiver and running back, a solid defense, and oh by the way, Heisman Trophy front runner Jameis Winston, who is only a freshman. Duke will have issues hanging around in Charlotte.

Big 10 Championship Game

Michigan State Spartans vs. Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State will finally meet an opponent worth their while, as the last time they played a top ten team before a bowl game was 2009 back when the current Country Day juniors and seniors were middle schoolers.  Michigan State has the number one defense in the country only allowing 10 points a game. The defense will keep them in the game for all 60 minutes as it has all year. However, someone has to score at some point. Braxton Miller and Carlos Hyde will find a way to cross the goal line for the Buckeyes.

Mountain West Conference Championship Game

Utah State Aggies vs. Fresno State Bulldogs

Utah State is a solid team with an above-average, dual threat quarterback in Chuckie Keeton. Fresno State’s quarterback, senior Derek Carr, is alright I guess. He only leads all of college football in passing yards with 4,462, touchdown passes with 45, and passer rating with a rating of 163.3. A perfect passer rating is 158.3. Look out Aggie defense. Oh and he’s MAD because the Bulldogs lost their undefeated season against rival San Jose State, despite Carr throwing six touchdown passes. Carr will come out throwing early and often.
