Guardians of the Galaxy: We Are Groot

Everyone loves a misfit, Guardians of the Galaxy is just misfits in space.

“Guardians of the Galaxy” is the ninth installment in the Marvel Comic Universe movie franchise. The movie follows Starlord and his space team of misfits. What’s great about their dynamic is not how they mirror the Avengers in form, but that they represent a whole different side of humanity. Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) is the perfect 80s kid, plus he’s closed off, emotionally unavailable, and OCD. Rocket (Bradley Cooper) is broken and quirky.  Drax (Dave Balista) is driven and sweet, in his own way.

What’s important about “Guardians of the Galaxy?” At the end of the “Thor 2,” Sif (Jamie Alexander) visited the Collector with the Aether. This coupled with the Tesseract make two Infinity Stones, a yet undefined power. Why the Collector wants these Infinity Stones can’t be for the good for the universe.

The lovely thing about this movie is that it can be a stand alone of part of a series; it’s funny and smart in it’s own right. It also opens the door to movies like the “Inhumans”. Did I mention the soundtrack and Groot (Vin Diesel)? Because that was sort of perfect. Marvel is looking at the summer of 2017 for the next “Guardians of the Galaxy,” though there are about ten Marvel Comics movies between now and then.
