Six-time Super Bowl champion and four-time Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady is moving south. Brady became a free agent and signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on March 20, 2020. After 20 years with the New England Patriots, Brady needed to cement himself as the best quarterback ever.

After leaving the Patriots, Brady said, “I have things to prove to myself… If I don’t go for it, I’ll never know what I could have accomplished,” he said to a reporter when asked why he left New England.

He established the Patriots as a dynasty, along with head coach Bill Belicheck. Brady is commonly referred to as the greatest quarterback of all time by the media and football fans everywhere. The fans in New England aren’t surprised to see Brady leave. New England fans have not had the expected reaction to the news either. In sports when a star leaves, many fans will burn that player’s jersey or shame them on social media; however, Brady’s departure has prompted many fans to celebrate the championships he brought to the team and its fanbase, and how great he  changed the quarterback position forever

Tampa Bay was a heavy contender to sign the most sought-after free-agent deal in NFL history, along with the Chargers and some thought the Dallas Cowboys. After coming to terms on a two-year $50 million deal, Brady’s only request was for the phone number of all of his new teammates in Tampa Bay. The potential for the Buccaneers offense with the addition of Brady is endless. Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are proven threats to NFL defenses, along with powerhouse at tight end, O.J. Howard. Tom Brady will have to adapt to a new coach for the first time in his career, and many are speculating that Tampa Bay head coach, Bruce Arians, will let Brady have some control over the team’s offense.

The Patriots are left with a gap to fill at the quarterback position. The depth chart now has a second-year star out of Auburn University, Jarret Stidham, and veteran, Brian Hoyer. It was reported that the Patriots may try and draft a quarterback to compete for the starting job in the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft. Florida International University quarterback, James Morgan, had a virtual meeting with the team and its office after a solid performance in the 2020 NFL Combine.

Not much was expected of Tom Brady when he entered the league out of Michigan University. As the 199th pick in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft, he would go on to prove himself as a winner, hard worker, and six-time world champion. Brady is an ideal model for many young quarterbacks around the world, and he has proven to be a very hard worker and winner both on and off the field. He puts in countless hours in the gym and shares it on social media.
